Frequently asked questions

What is included in the tours?

Our tours include excellent Minivans or Land Cruisers with a pop-up roof; all national parks entrances; camping fees and permits; water in the vehicle; accommodation as agreed.

What is not included in the tours?

Our tours do not include country visas; items of personal interest like souvenirs or extra services/tours not agreed beforehand; international flights; tips. Please be aware that, if after you book your tour, the government decides to apply increases in permits, park fees, camping fees, concession fees or others, these shall be added to your contract.

What is your cancellation Policy?

We apply a penalty of 10% if you cancel with more than 60 days before your tour, a 20% penalty if you cancel between 30 and 60 days earlier, a penalty of 50% if you cancel with 15 to 29 days notice, a 75% penalty if you cancel with 7 to 14 days notice, and a penalty of 100% if you cancel with less than a week notice. Kindly note that the above policy refers to our services as a tour operator but does not apply to the gorilla or chimpanzee tracking permits. These costs are subject to the official terms and conditions of the designated park and wildlife authorities.

What are the payment methods?

For the down payment, we accept payments via wire transfer (we have bank accounts in Kenya). On some occasions, payments are also possible with a credit card via Pesapal although there is a fee for this service.

Which airport should I arrive at?

Kigali International Airport for Rwanda and Entebbe International Airport for Uganda.

What are the visa requirements?

You will need a passport with at least 6 months validity and a visa to enter Uganda/Rwanda. The current price for tourist visas is 50$ and can be requested online. It is also possible to obtain a combined visa between Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya, allowing multiple entries as long as you stay within the region without moving out of it (valid for 90 days). This visa can be issued by the country of the first entry on the whole tour or online where applicable. The price is $100 USD per person.

Do I need any vaccination?

It is very important to set an appointment with a travel doctor in your home country before you come.  Please be aware that a certificate of yellow- fever vaccination is required.

Due to the risks of passing on human colds or other illnesses to primates, it is essential that you be in good health if you want to see them.

What if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?

This is something we take very seriously. Upon booking us, we will send you a form in which you will be able to indicate any dietary preference or restriction or any specific request you might have. We will then provide that information in advance to all the hotels.

What should I wear?

Lightweight clothing is usually appropriate for the equatorial climate, though some high altitudes mean that a sweater or fleece and light jacket could get plenty of use. A rain jacket can also come in handy. Sandals are the most comfortable footwear but bring walking shoes or light boots for trails. Locals never use shorts, for women cropped pants, a mid-length or longer skirt can be a better option. Quick-dry hiking pants and long sleeve shirts are essential for hiking or chimp trekking; pre-soaking them in Permethrin will help keep the mosquitoes away. Scarves can be handy to keep the sun off.

Can I take plastic bags?

All plastic carrier bags regardless of their thickness are prohibited in Rwanda and Uganda. The latest ban affects all plastic carry bags and other single-use plastic items such as wrappers, plastic containers, bottles, straws, plastic cutlery, folders, and balloons. Plastic duty-free bags are not authorised to be brought into the country.
